The mark

The Gostilna Slovenija mark

Slovenian inns are one of the building blocks of our heritage and our modern culinary identity. For centuries they have shaped the image of our gastronomic culture and served as gathering places for good company, fine food and excellent wine.

Through a rich evolution and a wide palette of flavours, inns grew as distinctly family-run establishments. Their very name is bound to guests, and above all to the hospitality with which innkeepers invite you to discover the house, local, regional and Slovenian dishes.

The Section for Hospitality and Tourism at the Chamber of Crafts and Small Business of Slovenia introduces a new standard with the Gostilna Slovenija mark. The OZS board adopted the rules on granting the right to use the collective mark and appointed an expert commission to award it.

Every inn that earns the right to use the mark is marked outside with a signage board at the entrance, and optionally with a hanging sign. In this way Gostilna Slovenija becomes an ordered, recognisable product of Slovenia's modern gastronomic image.

What the logo represents

The colours of the logo express the diversity of Slovenia and of its inns. Each shade carries its own meaning.

  • Two blues, the sea, rivers and lakes.
  • Two greens, fields and forests, Slovenia's defining colour.
  • A yellow, the sunny side of the Alps.
  • Three reds, hospitality, love and loyalty.

The mark sits on a white background, a nod to the white tablecloth, a defining detail of the Slovenian inn table.
