For owners
How to earn the Gostilna Slovenija title
Any hospitality establishment may apply for the right to use the Gostilna Slovenija mark, provided it is registered as an inn and carries the inn designation.
Gostilna Slovenija is becoming an ordered, recognisable product of Slovenia's modern gastronomic image. It follows the principles of sustainable development and, above all, strengthens Slovenia's culinary visibility on the world map.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Gostilna Slovenija title mean?
The title is a mark of quality and hospitality. It confirms a commitment to preserving Slovenian culinary traditions and to a high standard of service, and recognises that your inn offers authentic dishes and a first-rate culinary experience.
What conditions must my inn meet?
Your inn must meet criteria for the quality of its offer, the use of local ingredients and the care for Slovenian culinary tradition. Sustainability matters too, meaning inclusion in the green scheme of Slovenian tourism, along with a pledge to phase out single-use plastic. The full list of conditions is set out in the rules.
How do I apply?
Applications are made through the Chamber of Crafts and Small Business of Slovenia. Fill in the application form and submit the required documents. The assessment commission then reviews your application and carries out the steps needed to award the title.
Who can apply for the title?
Any hospitality establishment registered as an inn (gostilna) can apply. Guesthouses that will be renamed inns with lodging are also eligible, as are establishments with several registered activities where the inn activity is clearly distinct.
